Distiguished Service Award

MAT DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD 2007
This year The Michigan Association of Timbermen were honored to present the Distinguished Service Award to Brian Nelson, of Marvin Nelson Forest Products of Cornell, MI.  Brian  is a  member of the MAT Board of Directors, and has recently been nominated to the ALC Board of Directors.

A man’s work ethic carries through on everything else he does in life. Honest, hard working, a man who loves his job and someone who is not afraid to tell you how he feels (which can sometimes be a good thing and a not so good thing). Someone who loves his family very much and tries to incorporate family life into work as much as possible.

Coming from a background of “never turn work down because you never know when you might run short” Brian and his brother Dave usually meet themselves. When the boys were young and “bored” Dad lined up truck tires for them to fix after school. They haven’t been bored since - working in the woods after school and full time in the summer. At 17 , Brian started running the chipper - working 16 hour days for many years - with the truckers stopping by the house to refill his lunch pail. But that didn’t stop his flourishing social life. His parents remember times when Marvin would be going out the door for work & meet Brian coming in - to change into his work clothes - (of course!) and follow his Dad out.

We are pleased and proud to have Brian on our MAT Board.
