Self-Insurer's Workers' Compensation Plan The Michigan Association of Timbermen Self Insurer's Fund is Michigan's first group Self-Insuring fund for Worker's Compensation. With assets over $27 Million, the Fund returns surplus premium and investment interest income to eligible members semiannually. Forest Insurance Center Agency, Inc. Forest Insurance Center Agency, Inc., is owned by TIMSER Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Michigan Association of Timbermen. Forest Insurance Center specializes in placing insurance coverage for business owners and their employee's in the forest products industry. Loggers, Sawmills, Truckers, Retail Yard, Dimension Lumber, Pallet, Chipping or Tree Services are just a few of the area's we handle. Forest Insurance is an Independent Agency, representing many fine companies. We have agents in Upper and Lower Michigan who travel extensively. Jess Birtcher Scholarship Fund Established in 1990, in remembrance of charter board member and President, Jess Birtcher. The scholarship fund presents scholarships annually to children of Timbermen members and their employees.
Long Distance Telephone Service Through Dalby Telemanagement, Timbermen members have the opportunity to get a plan best suited for their individual needs at a substantial savings. Safety Clothing The Association sells a wide variety of safety clothing and equipment. Felt pac winter boots, hard hats, chaps, denim jeans, summer and winter nylon pants, wool pants, gloves, winter mitts, first aid kits, glasses, hearing protection, and MIOSHA approved gas cans are sold to members at cost. Also available are "I Love Michigan Forests" pins, logo ball caps, sweatshirts, and license plates. Steel-toed Footwear Safety footwear by Lehigh Safety Shoe Company can be ordered directly at 1-800-444-4086. Lehigh offers dress and casual shoes or boots for men and women.
Legislative and Public Affairs Service The Timbermen staff work to create the most effective programs possible between our members and governmental agencies. Our current lobbyist keeps busy with fact finding, monitoring, tracking, reporting and lobbying. Our lobbyist has been successful in areas such as transportation issues, forestry issues, Insurance, tax and labor issues.
Films and Videos A library of films and videotapes are available for members on logging and sawmill safety. The Association assistant in the production of films on issues, opportunities and safety in the forest products industry.
